THE EFFECT OF ASCORBIC ACID ON BLOOD HISTAMINE LEVEL AND DELAYED-TYPE HYPERSENSITIVITY IN GUINEA PIGS
The effect of ascorbic acid on blood histamine level and delayed-type hypersensitivity was studied in thirty male guinea pigs. Animals were sensitized to B.C.G., trichophytin and mallein during the first four weeks. The diet was ad libitum during this period. After this "sensitization period" animals w er e tested intradermally with tuberculin, trichophytin and mallein. The number and diam...
متن کاملOral tolerance for delayed type hypersensitivity contribution of local and peripheral mechanisms
Oral tolerance is a physiological immune mechanism, which controls the outcome of deleterious hypersensitivity reactions to environmental antigens absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, and maintains homeostasis. Using a mouse model of oral tolerance of delayed type hypersensitivity to contact allergens, i.e. haptens, we have examined the mechanisms involved in the induction of oral toler...
متن کامل2088 Induction of Delayed - Type Hypersensitivity
Delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) 1 is a T cell-mediated reaction resulting in a mononuclear cell-rich inf lammat ion and swelling that peak 24-48 h after local antigenic challenge. In spite of the extensive use of D T H to dissect regulatory (1), genetic (2), and molecular (3) aspects of in vivo T cell responses, little is known of factors that regulate the persistence o f these reactions. I...
متن کاملA stable form of delayed-type hypersensitivity
An antigen dose below the level needed to provoke an antibody response produces in mice a persistent, but minor degree of delayed-type hypersensitivity (dth) to sheep red blood cells. The DTH is unstable. It is erased by larger doses of antigen and cannot be built upon by further antigenic stimulation. The much higher levels of DTH resulting from immunization under the modulating influence of c...
متن کاملDelayed-type hypersensitivity to amide local anesthetics.
We present a 54-year-old woman who suffered eczematous eruptions on her face after the administration of lidocaine and mepivacaine for dental surgeries. Patch tests showed delayed-type-hypersensitivity to the amide local anesthetics lidocaine and mepivacaine with cross reaction to other amynoacylderivatives (prilocaine, bupivacaine) but not articaine.
